0More, On Religion
❤️ On Religion 😇 is a book that delves into the cosmos surrounding two meditation pavilions, crafted for a Buddhist community nestled at the foot of the Austrian Alps.
These two pavilions were designed and built as a part of bachelor thesis 2023/24 ON RELIGION at studio0more / studio2 / UIBK Innsbruck. They are part of a larger project involving three universities—Bartlett, Uni Kassel, and UIBK—collaborating with the Buddhist community Rangjung Yeshe Gomde to create six meditation spots near the Alps. These pavilions are a part of the Salzkammergut 2024 European Capital of Culture initiative.
… In the time of internet and global warming, social media and feminism, Google and political correctness, ChatGPT and sustainability… What do the spirits and gods have to say? Gomde invited us to design a place where gods and humans talk. It is a place between the earth and the sky, between world and history, between nature and culture. How can we host this event? Gods and spirits are around. They are curious.
…Zeus, Yahweh, Odin, Apollo, David, Moses, Krishna, Buddha, Jesus, Freya…
Each God, each Figure, each Character with its own temper, ready to help us design a Pantheon. So, we did welcome the gods, and build them two homes in the footsteps of the Alps. We composed two temples. We call them Nifty Nook, and Tashi gfu.
The two operate on the same grounds.
Two Pokémons, two gnomons.
But it is impossible to separate the two.
Two pavilions, two clocks.
These two voices say the same thing.
Two friends, Two meditation spots.
The two systems can be contrasted term by term.
Two figures, Two sculptures.
Yet the two terms are not opposites: they simply mark two aspects of expression.
Two atmospheres, two characters.
Nevertheless, the two are related.
Two sundials, two shadows.
Nifty Nook, and Tashi gfu.
